Local Town of the Blue Mountains resident - Andrew Bartnicki wins the Rocky Mountaineer Raffle!

Local Town of the Blue Mountains resident - Andrew Bartnicki and his wife Odette are about to experience a trip of a lifetime. An online auction made possible through the generosity of Grey County Tourism, TIAC and Rocky Mountaineer has resulted in the creation of the Don Braden Memorial Award which will be awarded annually to a student attending Georgian Bay Community School.

"We are delighted to support this new award in memory of Don", says Catherine Smart, Foundation Manager. "It is so fitting and provides a wonderful legacy".

"I was excited to bid in the BMVA silent auction to honour the memory of Don Braden, a tireless advocate for tourism and sustainability in the Town of the Blue Mountains. Environmental and Economic sustainability of our entire region depends on a healthy tourism industry, not only in The Village, but also for the apple industry, our wineries, our culinary institutions, and many others.

I couldn’t resist bidding knowing that youth from across the Blue Mountains who attend Georgian Bay Community School will be the ultimate beneficiaries through a bursury award in Don’s name.

My father-in-laws’s last trip was on the Rocky Mountaineer and he raved about it, so Odette and I have long wanted to take this journey ourselves. We’re really looking forward to it!", exclaims Andrew.
