Ivan Wanis Ruiz
Your Host for the Weekend
Ivan Wanis Ruiz is an experienced event host and (of course) salsa addict! He was the official host of the Pan Am & Para Pan Am Games Torch Relays, Salsa on St. Clair and the New Year's Celebrations at Nathan Philips Square.

When he is not speaking, he is dancing and teaching in Toronto. Ivan is also an accomplished actor and has most recently appeared on Orphan Black, Gangland Undercover and Covert Affairs to name just a few of his appearances.

Salsotika is well known for classic salsa music from the 80s and 90s. Influenced by the Willie Rosario band of the 80s, Salsotika is directed by timbalero Johan Aguirre. This powerful combination makes this band one of the most sought-after salsa band in Toronto.
Son De La Guayra

Son de La Guayra formed in 2015, in Guelph, Ontario.  A long-time fan of salsa music and largely self-taught on Latin percussion, Bill Harvie dreamed for many years of being part of a salsa band. Bill managed to form a core of player and from there, they inspired other fantastic musicians to join. What started as a dream, has blossomed into a 12-piece Salsa band that delivers an eclectic repertoire that is sure to keep everyone dancing!
Sol de Cuba

For over 20 years, Cuban-Canadian band, Pablo Terry and Sol de Cuba have been providing entertainment for festivals, corporate events, private parties, clubs, hotels and restaurants in Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. Led by flautist Pablo Terry, Sol de Cuba plays a wide range of musical genres such as Latin, Cuban Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Guaguanco, Brazilian Samba, Argentinian Tango, Colombian Cumbia, and Italian songs. Bachata Swing Toronto

A live music band composed of some of the Toronto’s best bachata musicians from the Dominican Republic, Chile and Ecuador. Wilson Manuel is the lead singer of the band and is well known for his unique voice both locally and internationally. The passion for bachata and merengue runs in the veins of each of the members which can be felt and seen in their music and performances

Toronto Urban Latin ensemble and winner of the title of Best of ‘Play the Parks’ in 2017, continues to fire up funk fusion with their new video and single “Hurricane” released August 2018. The word "Santerías" represents a cultural fusion where dance and music are fundamental ingredients for healing. Santerias Band proposes that their dynamic and upbeat style of music, coined by them as RUMBAFUNK, should be a universal healing language. Some songs bring in Latin rhythms while some embrace a Brazilian Tropicália sensibility, but all of them get bathed in a vibrant mixture of pop and funk aesthetics.

The Imbayakunas

The Imbayakunas are a band with unique world music fusion that combines traditional Andean sounds with contemporary Latin rhythms. They have become well-known for their musical mix of pan flutes, guitar, violin, charango and drums with a wide repertoire of musical sounds spanning from traditional Andean San Juans to classics such as "Hotel California" by The Eagles.
