Jingles & Joy

Dec 1, 2015

Ah the holidays. A time for family, a time for joy, a time to lay on the horn as you battle for the last parking spot in an endless sea of cars at the local mall.  If that idea makes you break out in a cold sweat (I’m already in full panic mode over here), I’m here to tell you that there’s a better, more family-friendly way to finish your holiday shopping: Jingles & Joy in the Blue Mountain Village.

Imagine preserving your sanity, experiencing the great outdoors and creating amazing family memories while you shop. Jingles & Joy is a month-long holiday celebration in Ontario’s Premier Mountain Village.  Browse 25 unique shops at the base of a bustling ski resort. The Village is open 365 days a year, with extended hours Fridays and Saturdays nights. Leave the kids nestled snug in their beds while you tackle your last minute needs… eggnog latte in hand.

While finishing your Christmas list is the end goal, adding some genuine family fun is the icing on your gingerbread cookie. In fact, if you play your cards right, the kids won’t even notice you’re shopping.

Take them to sit on Santa’s knee at the Water Street Bandstand or let them explore the village on a Candy Cane Scavenger Hunt. Join the carolers as they stroll the walkways singing holiday favourites then grab a hot chocolate and enjoy a free horse-drawn wagon ride beginning at MJ Byrnes Irish Pub. Warm up around the campfire or get your holiday groove on with Tyler Boyle. Once the sun has set, head to the Mill Pond for Saturday night fireworks at 8 p.m.  Visiting over the holidays? Enjoy our special holiday fireworks shows at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Want to make it a weekend adventure? Book an overnight stay at the Westin Trillium House or Mosaic at Blue and let the kids swim under the stars while they catch snowflakes on their tongues. If you’re coming for the day, add a visit to Plunge Aquatic Centre. After your outdoor fun, appease your hangry kids with lunch at one of the 16 village restaurants.

This December, skip the mall and experience holiday shopping and family fun the Jingles & Joy way. Your old-fashioned White Christmas awaits in the Blue Mountain Village—gently falling snow, real jingle bells and live Christmas carols included.
